Ethan Liming was killed on June 2, 2022.
The two Akron brothers convicted in connection with the death of a 17-year-old Akron boy outside the I Promise School will be sentenced this afternoon by Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Tammy O’Brien.
The Summit County Medical Examiner ruled Liming died from blunt force trauma after his head struck the ground from one punch. At 10:15 a.m., the jury told Judge Tammy O’Brien they are having trouble reaching a verdict, but she told them to continue negotiating.The defense rested without calling any witnesses in the trial for Deshawn Stafford Jr., 20, and his brother Tyler Stafford, 19.Akron police said Liming was attacked outside the I Promise School after shooting them with a SplatRBall gun.
The jury heard from one of the Akron police detectives who was first on the scene. They also saw surveillance video of Ethan Liming arriving at the park.The opening statements from both the prosecution and defense took place Friday, Sept. 15, in front of Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Tammy O’Brien.The first two officers at the scene just took the stand.
