U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spent time in the Upstate New York region Monday, flanked by local leaders in three cities: Buffalo, Rochester

Chuck Schumer joins local leaders at Saab in East Syracuse on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023 to announce the City of Syracuse's designation as a NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub. and Syracuse. Those cities will now be part of the NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub.has designated Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse as a regional technology and innovation hub.
Schumer said every hub out of the 31 selected by the U.S. Economic Development Administration will get some sort of funding. In phase two of the application, "EDA will award implementation grants to 5-10 Designated Tech Hubs, with each of those Hubs receiving approximately $40-$70 million across approximately 3-8 projects," according to their website."That will be the work of the course of the next several weeks.
Schumer said this will help attract new tech companies looking to relocate and wanting to be close to Micron, including those involved in support industries that can work with Micron, and supply chain companies.
