With the Toryglen Community Base Larder opening last week, just under 30 per cent of larders in Glasgow are based in Toryglen.
A second larder opened its doors in Toryglen last week to help feed struggling locals at a heavily discounted rate.
The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.Base larder coordinator Roseann Connor spoke to Lanarkshire Live about how successful the opening was, and said: “We had a great turnout on our opening day with around 30 people turning up.
We’ve worked hard in setting this up, and it’s all coming together now. It’s just about finely tuning it to find out what people really want. We couldn’t have asked for a more positive opening day. The place was buzzing.” The scheme, which allows residents to grow their own food, is being changed to produce the fruit and veg for the larder to help provide affordable goods to those most vulnerable.
