“I’m a tech worker, I’ve done so much more in my life,” said Costa, during a lengthy conversation with KOMO News Senior Reporter Chris Daniels at West Seattle’s Lincoln Park. Yet, Costa acknowledges her fight against climate change, and her subsequent high-profile firing by Amazon, spurred her interest in continuing the conversation at the City Council level. She’s running to represent West Seattle and SODO, in the seat being vacated by Lisa Herbold.
Even after spurring a labor uprising at Amazon, Costa said she has more good memories than bad about Seattle’s biggest employer and that “we do need workers to come back downtown until we can get our feet under us again.” She also talked about potential new taxes, as well as policing and the homeless crisis in the more than half hour conversation with Daniels.
