Saskatoon fire department says a blaze in a commercial business yard on Tuesday night caused an estimated $300,000 in damages.
Multiple callers reported flames as high as 30 feet behind a building in the 1900 block on Ontario Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the battalion chief responded and found that the fire was in a commercial business yard; crews had to cut fencing to access the area, the fire department reported in a news release on Wednesday.
A sea can shipping container with motorcycles, pallets and landscape fabric was burning. The fire was completely under control at 8:25 p.m. and a skid steer operated by employees of the business was used to help move and spread items around the yard so crews could ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
It is believed the fire originated with some pallets stored in the yard that spread to other items, but the cause is undetermined. The news seems to be flying at us faster all the time.
