SDPD investigating 'unusual' death of Tierrasanta man, 60, who reportedly fell down stairs [Breaking]
Homicide detectives were investigating “unusual circumstances” surrounding the death of a 60-year-old man who was found fatally injured Saturday after he reportedly fell down the stairs of his Tierrasanta townhome, San Diego police said.
The man’s wife called 911 just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday to report that her husband had fallen and died inside their home on Esmeraldas Drive, in a residential neighborhood southeast of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Santos Road, San Diego police homicide Lt. Steve Shebloski said in a news release. Firefighters from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department arrived first and tried to revive the man before confirming his death, Shebloski said. After the firefighters conferred with police patrol officers, homicide detectives were summoned to the scene “due to unusual circumstances ... and in an abundance of caution.”Police did not release the man’s name and said his cause of death was still undetermined early Sunday.
Shebloski said the county Medical Examiner’s Office would determine his cause of death while detectives continue interviewing potential witnesses and gathering evidence.
