Public sector pay: Scottish Government warns of ‘deep cuts’ to services unless Westminster funds pay rises
Deputy First Minister John Swinney argued that recent pay rises announced by the UK Government should have been followed by more money for the devolved nations. NHS staff are being given an annual pay rise of at least £1,400, backdated to April, with the basic pay of newly-qualified nurses, paramedics and midwives rising by 5.5 per cent.
