The East Lothian lifeboat crew were heading home from a safety missing when they spotted a boat struggling.
A lifeboat crew have come to the rescue after their team spotted a man in trouble on the way back from a safety mission.
The 56-year-old owner of a Rigid Raider Craft had headed out from the Cove at 1pm on Saturday, October 14, before going towards Dunbar Harbour when the primary engine failed. Snapping into action, the hero volunteers took the casualty aboard their D-class inshore lifeboat in order to protect him from the elements, before they towed the vessel back to Dunbar Harbour.
"If that had happened it could have been a very different scenario, like a water rescue or possibly a recovery. The casualty was taken ashore around 5.20pm where a waiting ambulance crew treated him for hypothermia.
