Liane Carberry had just finished her shift at Glasgow Central and was cycling home on a wet and windy evening when her bike went through a dangerous pothole
A Scots mum landed head first in the path of an oncoming bus after being thrown from her bike when she hit a huge pothole.
It left the 43-year-old from the Cathcart area of Glasgow so badly wounded that she had sleepless nights and still undergoes physiotherapy 10 months after the incident, which has left her fearful of cycling on city roads. "I tried to get up and I saw the headlights of a bus and had to get off the road because it was so dark. My glasses had fallen off so I couldn’t see but I managed to crawl off the road on my arms - I was wounded and started being sick.
She added: "I was in such pain and I couldn’t walk. My sons and husband had to help me out of bed. I couldn’t sleep properly and was changing positions all night. It was absolutely horrendous. She said: "It’s infuriating, the pothole shouldn’t have been there. The roads are a disgrace, why can’t the council maintain them?
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “We are very sorry to learn of the injuries sustained by Ms Carberry and we hope she recovers fully as soon as possible.
