An HM Coastguard helicopter rescued 10 motorists stranded from the mud covered A83 and A815.
A number of vehicles were stuck on the A83 and A815 near Inveraray and an HM Coastguard helicopter was used to take them to safety.
A crew from HM Coastguard in Prestwick was called in by Police Scotland to help with the recovery operation on Saturday morning. The A83 is an almost 100-mile major trunk road connecting the Mull of Kintyre and southern Argyll to the shores of Loch Lomond. About 1.3 million vehicles travel the route every year and it acts as an important transport link for mainland Argyll as well as the Inner Hebrides.It is not yet clear how long Saturday's closure will last.
