Temperatures will plummet to minus five degrees with snow on its way in Scotland.

Scotland is expected to be hit with a freeze next week with a '42 hour snow blast' set to sweep across the nation. Forecasts have painted a chilly picture, indicating that nearly every corner of the UK will be engulfed by a polar freeze.

Scotland could experience biting lows of minus five degrees with snow on its way and south of the border highs will be struggling to reach 3C. Both WX Charts and Jim Dale, the founder and senior meteorological consultant at British Weather Services, foresee a light sprinkling of snow, reports the Mirror.

Adding to the frosty forecast, Birmingham Live reports James Madden from Exacta Weather as warning: "Temporary snow risk across parts of Scotland, northern England, and later to parts of central and southern England Tuesday evening and early morning... As covered within our much earlier reports for this period and when others were showing high confidence indications for a pattern change to warmer weather instead.

The Met Office has stated that temperatures could reach up to 22C in East Anglia, while western areas will see gusts of up to 70mph on Saturday. The weather experts also issued a yellow weather warning for wind in the north west and south west of England, parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, from 8am to 10pm on Saturday. Met Office meteorologist Ellie Glaisyer said: "The storm is the reason we are seeing the warmer temperatures, because the location of the storm - situated out towards the west of the UK - is bringing a southerly wind across the UK.
