Dr Richard Dixon, former director of Friends of the Earth Scotland, said the country's climate record is 'not good enough' with policies 'too slow and too ineffective'.
Scotland's “climate inaction” risks dooming efforts to meet vital 2030 targets and destroying our international credibility, a leading eco expert has warned.
And the influential environmentalist warned those still resisting the drive to decarbonise were “out of step of public opinion” - with climate change happening “even faster than scientists predicted”. But in a briefing with journalists, Dr Dixon warned it would be a “mistake” to water down the 2030 targets in response to the CCC’s findings, instead calling for greater “climate ambition” to meet them.
Dr Dixon continued: “We are already starting to suffer the impacts of climate change – but, if we act, we can still avoid the worst consequences.
