Chippies and restaurants across the UK have been named in 2024's annual Fry Awards.
The top chippies in Scotland have been named in a prestigious award that picks out the best in the nation.
Out of the takeaways awarded, nine are found in Scotland - two more than awarded last year - with Anstruther's The Wee Chippy restaurant named as one of the top 10 restaurants in the UK. In addition, The Cafe Royal and Moore’s Fish & Chips, both in Dumfries and Galloway, The Fish Works in Ayrshire and The Real Food Cafe in Stirling were also singled out as some of the top fish and chip take outs in the entire UK.
When picking contenders, judges meticulously inspected certain elements during unannounced visits. These include food quality, premises cleanliness, staff expertise, value for money, ease of ordering, and social media presence.
