Saffron Kelly, from Preston, is hopeful about what the future has in store 🥰
Saffron Kelly from Preston was unsure if she was going to keep her baby, until she thought she had miscarried and realised she "couldn't cope with the thought of losing her." Now 16, Saffron lives with her mum Helen, 49 and her 10-month old baby daughter, Ivy-Mae.
So far, Saffron has made around £2,000. Helen, a civil servant who became a grandmother at 43 when Saffron's sister fell pregnant at 17, was "absolutely devastated" when she learnt her youngest was pregnant. Saffron found out that she was pregnant on her 15th birthday on 2 October 2021. She said: “I was shocked, and I didn’t really know what to do.”
“I think from that moment, I kind of knew I was going to keep her – I couldn’t cope with the thought of losing her.” Saffron was in Year 10 at the time and was nervous about returning to school. Her mum, Helen saw her granddaughter for the first time and realised she didn't need to worry so much. She explained: “Ivy is absolutely beautiful, and she gives us joy every day.”
