Mason Jasper was just 18 when he attacked the young victim on public ground in Springburn.
A jury found the now 20-year-old guilty of rape at the High Court in Glasgow today. His co-accused Kyle McCaughan, also 20, was convicted of attempting to rape the girl on the same night.The horrific incident unfolded in May 2020 when the young girl was drunk in the company of Jasper and McCaughan and others.
The trial was told that the girl had to be held up by both men at one stage due to her state of intoxication.Jasper and McCaughan pounced when they were left alone with the girl. Jasper claimed in his evidence that he had consensual sex with the girl. She had earlier told police that she had "no recollection" of sex with Jasper.
Prosecutor David Dickson told jurors in his closing speech: "I suggest she is telling you the truth when she said she was so drunk she could not consent to sexual intercourse."She stated that she tried to move away but could not as he was holding her hips.We're testing a new site: This content is coming soon The court was told that the girl's parents were concerned for her as she had been out for three to four hours.
