STAFF REPORT “Scarecrows in the Gardens,” one of the most popular events held at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens, returns in October for its 19th year.
As a special treat, DABG will offer free admission as part of its Open House on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 2 p.m. until closing at 6 p.m. Visitors will be able to enjoy the scarecrows, walk the trails, and cast their vote for their favorite scarecrow. While at the gardens, don’t miss the opportunity to visit “Wings of Wonder”, the new Butterfly House that opened in 2022. Visitors can walk among 400-500 native butterflies and observe their life cycle. Admission to the Butterfly House is separate from garden admission and is $3 each. Butterfly House hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The 48-acre public garden is located at 5130 Headland Avenue in Dothan. Garden hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time. On Nov. 5, when Daylight Savings Time ends, operating hours will change to 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
