According to the amended Preventative Maintenance Renewal Plan for 2023-2027 that was approved on Tuesday, the division now expects to spend $6.9 million on preventative maintenance in 2022-23, up from a projected $6.5 million. Approximately $900,000 in maintenance reserve funds will be used to cover some of the deficit.

Prairie Valley School Division received 10 per cent less for preventative maintenance, but said that inflation has increased project costs by 30 per cent. School boards are bound to deliver budgets to the Ministry of Education that match funding, including preventative maintenance spending.
