The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford reacted to Donald Trump's comments about the double standard between the Biden Department of Justice's treatment of the former president and the Hunter Biden legal scandals.
"I’ve been hitting him [Joe Biden] much differently because I’ve always respected the office. And then, when they indicted me for nothing, I said now the gloves are off. Now we have to say it like it is: He’s a crook," Trump said while he was campaigning in Pickens, South Carolina, on Saturday.
"The whistleblowers testified that investigators believed there was evidence in the guest home at Joe Biden’s Delaware residence where Hunter Biden was living. People in David Weiss’s office, the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware, agreed with investigators that they were likely to find evidence of tax crimes in that guest home, but the decision was made that a raid was too aggressive, too politically sensitive, and they didn’t go forward.
"In Donald Trump’s case, the Justice Department pushed to have an unannounced raid over the concerns of investigators — the line agents who thought that was too aggressive. Trump’s lawyers were already working with the Justice Department," she explained. Bedford added,"So you can see the different way in some of these tactical steps that investigators have taken that the Justice Department has taken such different approaches when you compare Hunter Biden and Donald Trump."
