Young Saoirse Ruane, who tugged at our heart with her brave fight against bone cancer, has been fondly remembered as a "wonderful little angel." Saoirse, who inspired the annual Late Late Toy Show Appeal, died last Tuesday after a prolonged illness.
The main mourners are her devastated parents, Ollie and Roseanna, and her younger sister Farrah Rose. Others mourning include her half sister Rebecca, grandparents Anne Ruane, Tony, and Ann Brehony, alongside uncles, aunts, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends. Fr Declan McInerney described Saoirse as "the wonderful little angel" and "now our saint of Kiltullagh."
The treatment involved intensive chemotherapy and the amputation of her right leg, and she was fitted with a prosthetic. Saoirse Ruane's bravery led to the creation of the RTE Toy Show Appeal, which quickly raised over 6 million in just a few hours.Her family shared the sad news on social media last Thursday morning, March 5: "After a long courageous and dignified battle our hearts are shattered to tell you our beautiful little Saoirse took her final breath in our arms on Tuesday.
