A 39-year-old man from Norwood in San Miguel County has been arrested and charged with threatening investigators with explosives, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado.
According to the attorney's office, San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office investigators contacted Bryan Randolph Cornwell while reviewing a fentanyl overdose case. Afterward, Cornwell became agitated and allegedly sent threats via text messages to one of the investigators.
He made his first appearance in federal court in Grand Junction on Monday. A detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 6, according to the attorney's office. If he is convicted, he will face 10 years or less in prison, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.Norwood is about 30 miles northwest of Telluride.
