SAN JOSE – Two pedestrians were killed in a hit-and-run Thursday night in San Jose, police said.
The collision was reported at 6:26 p.m. near Ocala Avenue and Oakton Court. The female adult victims were taken to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead, police said.The deaths marked the city’s 25th and 26th traffic fatalities of the year. The identities of the victims will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office once they have been confirmed and their next of kin is notified.
San Jose continues to be on pace to eclipse previous roadway death records. Last year, the city saw 60 traffic fatalities, matching 20-year-plus highs reached in 2015 and 2019. In the past five years, the city did not typically log 20 or more deaths until May or June.Ocala Av and Oakton Ct.Both pedestrians were transported to local hospitals where they were pronounced deceased.
