The man surrendered after first trying to hole up in an apartment to fend off pursuing officers, police said.
A man wanted in connection with a San Jose killing was arrested Tuesday evening after barricading himself in a home in Sacramento with police in pursuit, authorities said.
The situation first came to public light through Sacramento-area law enforcement, who told local media that a homicide suspect being sought by San Jose police had barricaded himself in an apartment on Morse Avenue in Sacramento’s Arden Arcade neighborhood. On Wednesday morning, San Jose police confirmed that they had sent an arrest team to the state capital, and that in response to an encounter with officers, the man fled into an apartment unit and refused to come out.
SJPD officers were later joined by Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies, Sacramento police, and a SWAT team. Around 6 p.m., police said the man surrendered and was taken into the custody of SJPD. San Jose police declined to reveal any more details about the suspect or the homicide for which he is being investigated, saying they will do so “at a later date.”Given that the suspect would have to be criminally charged within 48 hours to keep him in jail custody, they will likely have to reveal those details by the end of the week.
