495 and 501 De Haro Street total more than 100,000 square feet and are obviously most suited for another brewery to take over.
Anchor Brewing Company’s two-building property in San Francisco has officially hit the market. But the zoning for the 2.17 acres allows for many uses in the industrial area, including research and development, storage, electric vehicle charging, and shipping logistics uses, according to CBRE, which is marketing the listing. It also includes laboratory uses, which could be attractive for the city’s biotech industry.
The historic brewery announced in July it would cease operations and liquidate the business, which shocked employees and residents and led to beers flying off shelves throughout the city. Anchor Brewing spokesperson Sam Singer said at the time that economic pressures made business “no longer sustainable.” Anchor was founded in 1896 and advertised itself as America’s first craft brewery. It was sold to Sapporo in 2017 for $85 million.
