JUST IN: District 1 Councilman Mario Bravo was suspended Friday from his City Council committee assignments following his bitterly personal attack against Councilwoman Ana Sandoval that left her distraught and in tears last week.
District 7 Councilwoman Ana Sandoval was distraught and tearful after District 1 Councilman Mario Bravo launched a bitter verbal attack against her last week when she declined to support his plan on how to use a CPS Energy surplus. The two are former romantic partners.SAN ANTONIO — District 1 Councilman Mario Bravo was suspended Friday from his City Council committee assignments followingthat left her distraught and in tears last week.
Nirenberg imposed Bravo’s suspension, which will remain in effect “until further notice,” according to a memorandum the mayor sent to city officials Friday afternoon. Bravo, who represents the inner city and part of the North Side, also accused Sandoval of “selling out” to the mayor and threatened to send a text to business leaders highlighting his claims.During the meeting, he repeatedly alluded to Sandoval, prompting City Attorney Andy Segovia to reprimand him.
Bravo didn’t return a phone call and a text message seeking comment Friday. Sandoval, who represents District 7 on the Northwest Side, and her chief of staff, Andrew Solano, declined to comment.
