The Glens welcome another top flight side this weekend - and are looking for another upset in the competition
Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce admits their run to the Junior Cup final last season is driving them to go one better this term, after upsetting Premier Division Troon at the weekend.
Toppling Troon shows they can mix it with the top teams this season, but Pryce knows another big performance will be required when Arthurlie – who thumped Forfar United 6-1 in their second round tie at the weekend – come calling at the Hamish B Allan Stadium. “There’s a lot of hurdles in the way before that and this first one is this weekend against Arthurlie, and that is not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
Pryce’s side went into the game as underdogs given they were up against Premier Division opposition, but it was the First Division outfit who came out on top at the Hamish B Allan Stadium on Saturday. He said: “Obviously Troon are in a higher league than us so went into the game as favourites, off the back of a good win at Darvel for them as well, so we knew for us to win the game we’d have to put in a really good performance – and the players did that.“It was a good game and it was just that the key moments went in our favour.
