Russian anti-war vigilantes have bombed a key railway line used to deploy troops and weapons to the war on Ukraine, UK intelligence officials said Tuesday.
“The Russia military primarily relies on rail transport for deploying forces to Ukraine, but with a network extending to over [22,500 miles]… the system is extremely challenging to secure against physical threats,” the intelligence report noted.
The vigilante attack was on “the main rail link between Russia and southern Belarus,” UK intelligence said. Vigilante group “Stop the Wagons” took credit for the “sabotage,” saying it would need “a complete re-laying of the rails” on the main route. The UK government ministry noted that the “Russian anti-war group ‘Stop the Wagons’ claimed responsibility for the incident” — at least the sixth it has claimed since June.
“This is part of a wider trend of dissident attacks against railways in both Russian and Belarus,” the ministry said.Find out more about the UK government's response:
