Fenton Rogers is due to appear in court
A rugby league player has been suspended by his club after he was charged with drink driving and assault of an emergency worker.
Huddersfield Giants' Fenton Rogers, 20, was detained following an incident on Friday in Saddleworth. He has since been charged and is due to appear in court on May 16. The club he has been suspended 'with immediate effect' pending the outcome of their own investigation, but would not comment further.In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "Fenton Rogers of Wrigley Street, Oldham has been charged with drink driving and has been bailed in relation to an assault of an emergency worker.
"The 20-year-old has been bailed ahead of scheduled appearance at Tameside Magistrates Court on 16/05/2024." A spokesperson for Huddersfield Giants said: "The club were made aware on Friday morning by Fenton Rogers of an incident the previous day which led to him being detained for questioning by the police. "No further comment will be made at this stage."
