EXCLUSIVE: Despite cries for the British royals to integrate themselves with their European cousins, an expert tells OK! why it's better for Prince William and Kate to devote their time to charity work
Members of the British Royal Family often attract criticism for not joining in with large gatherings of European royals for events such as significant birthdays.
While the British royals always invite their European cousins to any key national events over in the UK and are pictured together during State Visits, it is quite rare to see them together at family gatherings. "So I don’t see anything strange in our Royal family struggling to find time to meet up with their European cousins. And I’m not sure it would give the right impression to have a bunch of Royals jetting off to Europe to join in lavish celebrations for someone’s birthday.
Thanks to a shared history, as well as the matchmaking efforts of Queen Victoria - who was aptly nicknamed the 'Grandmother of Europe' - the British Royal Family are related to to royal descendants from Germany, Belgium, Russia, Denmark, Greece, Romania, Sweden, Norway and Spain.
