Rookie season brings lessons, growth for Rockets' Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason
Rockets rookies Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason have provided a greater sense of what they can bring the team as they go through their first NBA season.NEW ORLEANS — Tari Eason arrived for his first game in New Orleans decked out entirely in LSU gear, wearing his school’s colors from head-to-toe. That was back in November, when every NBA experience was new to the Rockets’ rookie forward. And it was good to be back for the first time.“That was for the first time,” he said, “but I love it here.
Each matchup was a chance to measure improvement, from the first eye-opening experiences to tests of what has been learned from experiences. “We’ve seen him a couple times so hopefully what we did earlier in the year will carry over,” Silas said. “Guys always watch film of what they did against a guy. Sometimes, they kind of gloss over other teams against the greats. But they see themselves against those guys, they are very locked in to how they played the first time and what they can do better the second time.”
“Just competing, doing what I can to make it tough on them. You’re not going to stop superstars in this league. Just going in, making it tough on them and doing my best to make their night difficult and make them not want to play against me every night.”
