Jabari Smith Jr. and the Rockets are far removed from any playoff talk, but they get the chance to play in a postseason-like atmosphere twice in Memphis and gauge their growth against Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Western Conference power Grizzlies.MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Rockets have long since understood that there will be no playoffs again this season.
Rockets visits don’t often inspire such emotion. There can be a take-care-of-business approach through much of the season, with only the late push for playoff spots or positioning bringing greater levels of intensity.
