Houston Rockets forward Kenyon Martin Jr. is fouled while shooting a layup against Chicago Bulls center Andre Drummond during the first half of an NBA basketball game Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, in Chicago. It was not just that they scored as they rarely do, coming within one point of the most they have scored this season. It was not just that they withstood a Bulls run from down 18 to a seven-point lead or that they had their best shooting game of the season.

Porter and Green each had their season high for 3-pointers, knocking down six apiece, with Porter scoring a season-high 36 points, adding nine assists and seven rebounds. Green, who carried the Rockets early, had 24 points. Sengun had 25 with 11 rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots. In the second half, he went to work. That was especially true when the Bulls scored five quick points in the fourth quarter, reducing the Rockets' lead to nine and getting Stephen Silas to an early timeout.

Green has led the Rockets in scoring throughout the season, but there was no question he has been struggling with his shot for weeks. That changed spectacularly in the first half, staking the Rockets to a commanding early lead and then keeping the game tight when the Bulls came back.
