The manager is looking to steer his Buddies past his former club and into the League Cup quarter-finals this afternoon.
Stephen Robinson is determined to turbo-boost St Mirren’s growth with a lucrative cup run – just as he did at Motherwell.
And Robinson believes beating his old employers this afternoon could make a huge difference to the speed in which he can develop his Buddies on and off the pitch. “But in an ideal world a cup run would certainly help progress that and maybe speed things up a bit.” Robinson said: “I get a buzz every Saturday. If you see me on the touchline I’m up and down like a yo-yo!“But if we can progress in the cup it brings a lot of publicity for the club and makes it easier for me to attract players.“It’s a big game and I believe it’s going to be a sell-out. Motherwell, as they always do at St Mirren, will bring a big crowd and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
