Singer and entertainer Robbie Williams has revealed that watching his new Netflix documentary has been traumatic. And the former Take That star has admitted he wants it to be that way for viewers too.

“As humans, nobody likes looking at photographs of themselves and nobody likes hearing their own voice,” he says. “So if you multiply that by watching yourself suffer with mental illness, breakdowns, alcoholism, depression, agoraphobia, fat, thin, all of the above, you’re in a tortuous headlock where you’re forced to watch the car crash in slow-mo.
Aged 16, the Stoke-on-Trent boy set foot on the path that would be his yellow brick road to world renown. It was in the frenzied days of Take That’s ascent that he first developed the anxiety, body dysmorphia, depression and addiction that would colour many of his subsequent days. Williams spoke disarmingly about mental health when that was rare, but many of his disorders went undiagnosed for years.
