ORLANDO, Fla. — On second-and-1 early in the second quarter, UTSA linebacker Trey Moore dipped his hips and powered through the inside shoulder of Troy’s left tackle, dragging quarterback Gunnar Watson down for a sack.
In the process, the redshirt freshman and Smithson Valley grad set a school single-season record with 18 tackles for loss, breaking Marcus Davenport’s previous mark of 17½. With standout receivers De’Corian Clark and Joshua Cephus out of action, Chris Carpenter started for the first time this year after entering the day with just two catches. He finished with seven grabs for 59 yards but dropped a wide-open touchdown pass in the final 10 minutes with UTSA trailing by six.
Harris, who announced his intention to return to UTSA for a final season in 2023, finished the year with 4,063 passing yards on 69.9 percent completions with 32 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
