He added: “I am probably the underdog in this thing … but it does not feel like the polls when I’m out and about”. The race is not yet decided, he added, stressing: “I’ve got work to do but I’m up for that and I’m throwing everything I’ve got at it.”, giving him the right to live and work in the US, though he has since returned it. Green card holders must pledge that they intend to permanently reside in the US long-term.
Ms Truss has indicated she would offer Mr Sunak a role in her Cabinet if she wins, though it is unlikely to be as prominent a job as his former post as Chancellor.
