A pro-Palestine rally calling for a ceasefire in Gaza has been given the go-ahead by the Met Police Rishi Sunak has clashed with the chief of the Metropolitan Police over a pro-Palestine demonstration taking place in London on Armistice Day. The prime minister said he will hold the Met’s commissioner Sir Mark Rowley ‘accountable’ for his decision to greenlight the march calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
’ Sir Mark Rowley said intelligence ahead of Saturday’s planned protest does not show there is a serious threat Organisers of the demonstration have pushed back at suggestions they should postpone the event on November 11. The conflict began in the early morning of October 7 when armed Hamas fighters launched a surprise attack against Israel, killing at least 1,400 Israelis and taking more than 200 civilians hostage.
