Rick and Morty might be a critically acclaimed, commercially successful series, but the show is not immune to criticism.
Rick and Morty season 7 might bring back Morty’s first love interest in what would be the character’s first appearance in the series since season 5. Around that time, Rick and Morty’s stories took on a more serialized tone as the show began to take the internal lives of its eponymous antiheroes more seriously.
Morty’s relationship with Jessica was always one-sided and, until her final on-screen appearance, his classmate never even said more than a few words to him. While Rick and Morty’s early seasons featured relatively frequent appearances from Jessica, these never amounted to more than her presence prompting Morty to undertake some wacky scheme that the cautious character would otherwise have avoided.
