Enterprises, the estate and family of author Richard Adams, has won an English High Court lawsuit against U.S.
The Intellectual Property Enterprise Court also terminated the original contract in which motion picture rights forThe High Court heard that Rosen entered contracts worth more than $500,000 after wrongly claiming he owned all rights to.
In addition to damages and legal costs, IPEC granted an injunction preventing Rosen and his companies from continuing to license rights to which they did not own. The Court has directed them to give further disclosures of their activities, and to destroy infringing materials on oath. Juliet Johnson, Richard Adams’ daughter and the Managing Director of Watership Down Enterprises said: “As custodians of this most beloved novel, our family has an obligation to protect the publishing and other rights forand to preserve the essence of our father’s creation. After many years trying to resolve matters directly with Martin Rosen, we are extremely pleased with the High Court’s ruling.
Adams is said to have first come up with the story of a group of rabbits escaping from their doomed warren as a way to entertain his daughters in the car. The author passed away in 2016.

British Woman Wins Case to Inherit the Estate of Abusive Husband She KilledSally Challen, a British woman who murdered her abusive husband in 2010, will inherit her husband’s million-dollar estate, the New York Times reports. Challen, who suffered decades of abuse by her husband, beat him to death and was sentenced to life in prison in 2011. But in 2015, the British government made “coercive control,” a series of abusive tactics that include “humiliation, isolating someone from friends and family, or controlling a person’s movement or financial resources” according to the Times, a criminal offense.
