The Rise of Skywalker introduced two new lightsabers but didn’t follow up on them, but Rey’s new Jedi Order film can make that right.

In a parallel with Luke Skywalker, Rey spent most of the sequel trilogy using somebody else's lightsaber - mostly Anakin's, which she was given by Maz Kanata when she arrived on the planet Takodana.
All this changed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, though, which technically saw Rey use two new lightsabers. As exciting as this may have been, though, both lightsabers were used sparingly, and viewers never really got the chance to see what they were capable of. The final scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker showed Rey using a yellow lightsaber, akin to the Jedi Temple Guards or the Jedi Sentinels of Legends - Jedi who “strike a balance between the physical and mental disciplines of the Jedi Order.” Unusually, Rey's lightsaber was in part made from her old staff, a homage to her past on Jakku. Again, though, this was seen only for a moment; viewers never saw Rey build it or use it.
