Elizabeth Banks' thriller about a bear on drugs doesn't bear deep examination but it's a crowd-pleaser in the style of such recent light-horror films as 'M3GAN' and 'The Menu'

Keri Russell is a working mom whose precocious young daughter has decided to go hiking in the woods at the local state park with her friend Henry . Of course, before it's all over, mom has to turn into a protective mama bear.Meanwhile, a drug kingpin wants to get his coke back and sends two of his underlings to do just that.
But the real apex predator here just may be Hollywood, because if"Cocaine Bear" takes a big bite out of the box office,"Cocaine Bear 2" can't be lumbering too far behind.
