Police Reveal Hotspots of E-Scooter Chaos in LancashirePolice in Lancashire have identified areas where e-scooters are causing problems for law-abiding motorists and residents. E-scooters are currently classified as 'powered transporters' and must adhere to the same laws as motor vehicles. This means they are illegal to use on pavements, cycle lanes, and pedestrian-only areas. To be used on public roads, e-scooters would need to meet the same requirements as motor vehicles, which is practically impossible. Electric bikes with pedals, on the other hand, are legal as long as they meet DVLA rules. Instances of e-scooters being seized and involved in road traffic collisions are on the rise, leading some to believe that more action should be taken by the police.
