Chinese researchers clone Tibetan goats to enhance adaptability and protect against degeneration, according to reports.
The cloning initiative aims to safeguard the plateau livestock breed from degeneration and enhance its adaptability to the challenging plateau environment.
Since 2018, Su’s team has collaborated with the Xining municipal animal disease prevention and control center to research embryo engineering application technology on Tibetan yaks and goats. This accomplishment is notably distinct from previous endeavors to clone rhesus monkeys, where no live births were achieved or the offspring did not survive beyond a few hours.
