The Times said that Miles is accused of retrieving his gun from Miller’s car at the scene and then handing it to his childhood friend, Michael Davis. Davis is accused of firing the shot that killed Harris. Miles and Davis were indicted by a grand jury last week. According to the Times, Miles’ lawyer he is innocent. Davis’ lawyer says he was acting in self-defense.
The Times said that a police detective testified at a Feb. 21 pretrial hearing that Miles texted Miller on the night of the incident to pick him up and wrote, “I need my joint.” That was reportedly a reference to a gun police say he left in Miller’s backseat. The detective said, too, in that testimony that there was “an unidentified passenger” in Miller’s car.
