Texas Vista currently houses about 175 patients and includes 800 employees. Steward Hospitals owns the facility.After 40 years on the Southwest Side, the lone hospital in the area,Previously known as Southwest General Hospital, a formal announcement regarding Texas Vista Medical Center's future is expected Wednesday, according to KSAT.
The website for the hospital at 7400 Barlite Blvd. says it's the only healthcare facility in the vicinity, although Baptist Neighborhood Hospital recently moved into the area. Texas Vista currently houses about 175 patients and includes 800 employees. Steward Hospitals owns the facility. "Any loss of access to health care – particularly in underserved portions of our community, is concerning," Mayor Ron Nirenberg told KSAT.
Employers with more than 100 employees, including Texas Vista, are required to provide 60 days' notice ahead of business closure under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
