Instead of saying November the sign claims the road will be closed on October 12.
A former deputy council leader has called out the council for using the wrong month on a road closure sign. Road signs have been put up around Preston informing residents of a closure on Remembrance Sunday.It reads: "Preston Remembrance Sunday. ROAD CLOSED. 12th Oct 2023, 9.45 to 12pm. Expect delays." Peter Toner initially pictured the sign and posted it on Twitter, now X.He said: "Hold your head in shame Preston ! Wrong month !! @prestoncouncil @LancsPolice.
Preston City Council were quick to respond to the post and said they would get it changed as soon as possible. They said: "Hi, apologies for the error. We're arranging for these to be amended ASAP, thanks." The parade will start alongside Preston Market canopies at Earl Street, along Lancaster Road, Church Street, Cheapside then onto the Flag Market for the service. At the end of Sunday's service, there will be an opportunity for the public to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph.
