This weekend we will pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women to protect these islands. Mrs F A Jones, who lived in the left-hand part of Hill House, in Dagger Lane, West Bromwich, was pictured in October 1964 showing Old Church verger Mr J H Comber the dilapidated state of the adjoining home, once occupied by Captain James Eaton, of Trafalgar fame. Mr Comber was campaigning for its restoration.His career in the Royal Navy began in 1799 during the French Revolutionary Wars and, as a crew member of HMS Hannibal, was captured during the Battle of Algeciras Bay on July 5, 1801.
