"I heard conflicting stories about, 'He was doing this. He was involved in this.' I even heard that the Prius was involved in a robbery or something. There was so much stuff, so I was like, 'Yeah. Get him. Call the police on him,'" Scott recalled. "If I could take that day back I would," Scott said. "Can cause people to act unpredictably?" defense attorney Kevin Ervin asked. "Yes," replied Holstrom. "Can it increase aggression and aggressiveness levels?" Ervin asked. "Yes," Holmstrom replied. Prosecutors pushed back.
Garcia testified this could be because she was hysterical, frantic and desperate in police interviews following Ramos's death. She said during police interviews she was handcuffed, wasn't able to blow her nose or clean her face and was not in a good frame of mind when giving statements. Garcia also testified she and Ramos went to the apartment complex where the shooting happened that day so they could buy drugs from a resident who lived there. She said initially they were headed to a gas station to look for a missing piece of jewelry but made a spontaneous stop at the apartments.
