Red Hood is the Bat-Family's black sheep.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT While the individual members of the Bat-Family have their own beliefs and goals, they generally align with what Batman believes in. However, this hasn't always been the case for Red Hood, as Jason has struggled to find his place in the Bat-Family – and now, it seems as though he's finally given up and decided to become their opposition once more, and fully embrace villainy.
Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War - Battle Lines – written by Chip Zdarsky and Tini Howard, with art by Mike Hawthorne – finds Batman and Catwoman going to war over the soul of Gotham City, causing divides in the Bat-Family, including Red Hood taking Catwoman's side over the rest of the family.
Jason Sides With Selina At The Onset Of The Gotham War Red Hood has always had a different view of crime from other people in the Bat-Family. Red Hood believes true criminals who hurt people, should be punished with lethal force. His point of view is understandable, considering Red Hoods interactions with the Joker.
And yet, Red Hood's views are more complicated than that, and on a deeper look actually line up with Selina's surprisingly well. Red Hood spent a lot of time as a homeless child on the streets of Gotham City. He knows what it's like to have to break the law to survive. He met Batman was because he was caught stealing the tires off the Batmobile, likely to sell for food.
Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War - Battle Lines is also not the only time recently Red Hood has disagreed with the Bat-Family. In Task Force Z Jason specifically refused to follow Batman's orders, which resulted in his arrest. Later in Task Force Z, Jason stole from the Batcave, and ended up having to fight Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl when they tried to bring him in.
