The airport saw its busiest April ever as passengers jetted off around the world
Manchester Airport has reported a record-breaking April as more than 2.4million passengers passed through the northern travel hub last month. This was up from 2.2million in 2023 and 25,000 more than the previous record in April 2019.
Holiday favourites Alicante and Tenerife rounded off the top five destinations in April, which also included city-break hotspot Amsterdam. Despite the record-breaking numbers, 93 per cent of passengers queued for less than 10 minutes to get through security last month with services operating smoothly.The airport continues to urge passengers to follow steps to ensure wait times are kept to a minimum, which includes following the 100ml liquid rule when passing through security.
“And the vast majority of those passengers have had a great start to their trips – with 93% waiting for 10 minutes or less to get to security. In fact, if you’re travelling with hand baggage and check-in online, the chances are that you’ll be able to arrive at the airport and walk straight up to security with barely any wait whatsoever.
