People are being urged to recognize little known signs that could mean you have a heart problem. Instant chest pain is typically associated with a heart attack, as is tightness in the chest. But there are other signs that you may experience that could be telling you something is wrong. The British Heart Foundation suggests pain in the chest that comes and goes after a rest could simply be angina. Other signs include feeling sick, experiencing discomfort in the jaw, back or stomach, and swollen feet and ankles.

Professor David Newby, from British Heart Foundation, said often, pain can spread to areas such as the jaw or back. Women are also more likely to experience pain in other parts of their body.Professor Newby warned this "shouldn’t be ignored, especially if the ankles get really big". He added that a "gripping or cramping sensation in your calves" can also emerge while walking.
